Verification of Identification. What does it mean and how does it impact you ?
It is a Government requirement for all Conveyancers to ensure that they have sufficiently verified the identity of all clients buying, selling or transferring property.
Minimum requirements are as simple as sighting and verifying your driver’ Licence and Passport. What if you don't have a Passport, I hear you say, then we can rely on other documents such as your Birth Certificate and Medicare Card.
The verification of Identity process is designed to minimise the risk of Title fraud within NSW property transactions. Within our offices, we have both Licensed Conveyancers and Justices of the Peace who can complete the verification and certification of clients' identities.
We also use up to date technology using facial recognition software to allow you to verify yourself without leaving your home or office.
Australia Post also provides this verification service.
If you have any questions regarding how to verify your identity, don't hesitate to give us a call and we can guide you through the process.
